Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House, Waverly Nebraska

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly Nebraska organizes retreats for Catholic clergy each summer. In addition, sometimes a Diocese or a Jesus Caritas Fraternity will organize their own retreat here. Contact us for scheduling.
Our retreats include single rooms with private baths, meals and snacks, conferences and spiritual direction, confession and adoration.

Please note that in 2027 the three Preached Retreats are Sunday-Thursday. Reminder that the third retreat has additional silence and no communal recreation after the opening night.

lgnatian Retreats, based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, are also known as directed retreats. The heart of the lgnatian Retreat involves spending four or five prayer periods each day in meditation on scripture. The retreat is marked by a complete silence, as there are no common prayers or devotions outside of Mass and Exposition, and no social time as even the meals are taken in silence to continue the reflection and prayerful atmosphere. Retreatants journal about each of their prayer times and the movements that occurred there, so that when they meet with the director, they can be given guidance and appropriate scripture passages for their meditation. It is suggested to read Meditation and Contemplation by Father Timothy Gallagher, OMV to learn more on the lgnatian methods of meditating on Scripture.

Payment handling:

• Priests from the Diocese of Lincoln: Please do not mail a check, the Institution where you served on June 1 will be billed by the Diocese.
• Priests from other Dioceses: you can pay by credit card upon registration or choose Payment Method Check/Cash during registration. In such cases, a check must be received in advance or upon check-in, otherwise a $20 billing fee will be added.
