Compassion in the Passion – a Palm Sunday Weekend Retreat Apr. 11-13, 2025

Online Retreat starts Friday with rosary and Mass at 8:00pm, ends Sunday with Noon lunch.
Compassion in the Passion
This retreat will focus on the Passion of the Lord in anticipation of Holy Week.
Fr. Rooney described, “I asked for help in prayer, and the idea came to me to give short reflections to lead people to pray with the Scriptures for the different moments of the Triduum, with a focus on imaginatively entering into the hearts of people in the scene.”
The title “Compassion in the Passion” reflects this focus on the heart, especially the Sacred Hearts of Our Lord and Our Lady, pondering all the movements of their hearts during the events of Holy Thursday through Easter Sunday.
Fr. Rooney hopes that the scriptural reflections will prompt retreatants to spend time in personal imaginative prayer with the events of Holy Week with a focus on the persons and their experiences in those moments.

Fr. John Rooney
Ordained a priest in 1989, Father Rooney comes from Kansas City. His first assignment was at St. Teresa Parish in Lincoln. He was most recently pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Shelby and now teaches at St. Gregory the Great Seminary where he is Spiritual Director, Assistant Professor and Director of Technology.
